Poor Quality Buttons and Fabric

We have purchased two of these and in both sectionals the buttons continue to fall off. They have been serviced no less than 5 times. It’s good that the cover it but should tell you that the buttons are not fortified very well in the manufacturing process (it’s very annoying to have to coordinate with a servicer) additionally the fabric is very poor quality and snags and runs easily. It’s not performance velvet and very cheaply made. You spend this much on a sectional and you expect that it should last longer than months. Overall not very happy. Also the mulberry insurance they sell is worthless. They don’t cover anything. This isn’t normal wear and tear and if it was I would expect it to show after years not months. Very poor quality. The design is very mid century modern which is the only reason I gave it two stars.

Mulberry covers manufacturing defects, all stains & spills, accidental rips & tears, seam separation, damage from liquid marks & rings, and chipped, dented and scratched surfaces. Custom modular Monroe with Smoke fabric.

I spent a lot of time comparing custom built sectionals from several different vendors. Once I found the Monroe, I fell in love with the look and style. It fits perfectly in my smaller living room which opens the rest of the space up. The back is a little low and the sitting space is a tad short (especially for taller individuals), but it is still a comfortable couch with a beautiful design, style and sophistication. This has now become my favorite spot in my house where I love to lounge on the chaise of the couch. The chaise is even comfortable enough to take a nap on! If you are looking for style and sophistication, I can’t recommend the Monroe enough. If you are looking for a couch you sink into, this is not for you.

The couch itself is a solid piece of furniture, with the only assembly required is attaching the modular parts and screwing the legs on. It was delivered in amazing shape and was packaged extremely well as to not damage the couch during shipping.

As others have said, the only small complaint I have is the tufted buttons on the cushions as I am constantly afraid they may pop off. However, after talking to customer support, they warranty the tufted buttons for the life of the couch and will send someone out to repair them if they do come off (None have come off on my couch), the warranty is very nice for peace of mind.

Overall, the build of the couch, the look and the fit is something I can’t recommend enough. One piece of advice is to take advantage of the…

A+++ on style, C on comfort

This much awaited sectional arrived about a week ago. It is gorgeous! The velvet fabric is amazing - soft and I think will be durable. The mondo color is a rich neutral. Now for the only negative. Despite some reviews saying it is comfortable, we have not found that to be the case. For us, it is hard to get comfortable on it. It is especially challenging in the curved area (unless you are sitting up). This isn’t a spread out and take a nap kind of sofa, but would be perfect in a more formal room with everyone sitting upright. In hindsight, I would have purchased a sofa through apt2b with higher comfort and less style in the same stunning fabric/color. I’m hoping some pillows and ottoman will help. Note that there are some minimal “dents” in the fabric from shipping that I suspect will always be there. Not a huge deal for me but might bother someone who wants it perfect.

We know that's an inconvenience so we apologize for any frustration this has caused. This is not typical feedback we receive so we want to help in any way that we can.

Our cushions are made from high density foam cushioning and will be a medium firm seat. Your sofa was brand new so it may need more time to break the sofa cushions in. It is expected that with all of our cushions, the firmness will decrease by up to 15-20%. A top tip to ensure they soften easily is to use your sofa regularly and to also regularly turn/flip your cushions that can be moved to break them in evenly. The discomfort you may be feeling might be because your sofa simply needs a bit more time to "break in" to realize its full comfort potential.

Frame Issues After 9 Months

While we love the look of this sectional, the quality is not there. We have had the Monroe for 9 months now and the frame creaks and snaps loudly every time you get up or move. It's just me and my husband (no children) and we are smaller people so it's not seeing excessive wear and tear at all. Whenever we have guests over they think they did something to the couch when they move/get up. I wrote to Apt2B who said this was unusual but I noticed similar complaints in the reviews. They sent out someone to repair the couch but it's been a disaster. The person who came was at our house a total of 10 minutes and super unprofessional. He said the couch wasn't made well and the frame needed to be reinforced but it would take 3-4 hours and he didn't have time to fix it. Wasn't that the whole point of them sending a repair person to our home?? Now Apt2B is saying they re-opened our repair order (why was it closed when nothing was fixed?) but I have yet to hear a word from the repair company. I own an interior styling business (and am a trade member of Apt2B) and while I used to always recommend them to clients I will no longer be doing so. If this couch ever gets fixed I'll update this review. In the meantime we're moving it to a room that doesn't get much use and purchasing a better quality couch.

Sophisticated

Overall I’m very pleased with my Monroe sectional sofa. It’s clean lines and mid-century vibe gives my living room the look I was seeking. Apt 2B was easy to work with and delivery was smooth.

The only design change I would suggest is the button tufting be on the tight back part rather than the seat cushions. They could possibly be dislodged over time and with regular use, such as curling legs under yourself- something I do often.

Great investment and have received many compliments on it.
