There’s a reason rock bands have been writing songs about legs for decades. Legs are an important part of the package. They’re sexy as hell. They’re a defining feature. And bad legs are a total deal breaker. I’m talking, of course, about sofa legs. If your sofa legs are looking a bit drab then give them a new lease on life with these awesome sofa leg hacks from Kyle Schuneman! Part 1 of our 3 part series will light up your life with neon sofa legs.
Creating neon sofa legs is one of the easiest (and most eye-catching) ways to add some life and some color to your home decor. Kyle shows you how it’s done using our Clark Sofa, a can of neon pink spray paint, and a sanding sponge!
Step 1: Remove the legs from your Apt2B sofa
Most Apt2B sofas feature easy-to-remove solid wood legs. All you have to do is twist them off! It’s so easy to do that you won’t even need to bribe a friend with a case of beer to help you.
Step 2: Sand away the stain
This next step is all about elbow grease. Take your sanding sponge and scrub away all of the original stain. Your Apt2B sofa will originally have an Espresso, Pecan, or Natural finish. And pretty soon it will have a neon finish!
Step 3: Spray paint those legs
Once you’ve removed all of the original stain you’re ready to spray paint the legs. Take the can of spray paint (whichever color you like. We’ve chosen neon pink because YOLO) and give it a good shake before starting. Hold the can of spray paint about 6″ from the surface of the legs and give each of them a good, even coating. Wait 30 minutes for the paint to dry and then flip them over and hit the bottoms.
Step 4: Screw ’em back in
Give the legs a good hour or two to fully dry before screwing the legs back into the hardwood frame of your Apt2B sofa. Screwing them in is as easy is unscrewing them. Twist the legs until they’re firm, snug, and – most importantly – straight.
Extra Tip: Take the case of beer you’d usually give to your friend for helping and save it for yourself! Sit back, relax, and get drunk on your rejuvenated Apt2B sofa.
