Mike Joyce was born in the summer of 1972 in Troy, New York rendering him Troy-Bilt, just as reliable as that great company’s signature rototiller. 25 years later Mike founded Stereotype Design in New York City, a studio specializing in wide-ranging projects for the entertainment industry.
He has designed album packaging for established artists such as Iggy Pop, Katy Perry, Fall Out Boy, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Natalie Merchant, The Lemonheads, David Sedaris, Morphine, Heart, Miles Davis, and Aretha Franklin. Mike’s work has been featured in over 120 publications including Print, Communication Arts, +81, Graphic, Rolling Stone, Coupe, How, Computer Arts, IdN, Inked, NME, and New York magazine.

Swissted is Mike's ongoing project. Drawing from his love of punk rock and Swiss Modernism, two movements that have (almost) nothing to do with one another, Mike has redesigned vintage punk, hardcore, new wave, and indie rock show flyers into International Typographic Style posters. Each design is set in lowercase Berthold Akzidenz-Grotesk medium—not Helvetica. Every single one of these amazing shows actually happened!

We love Mike's reimagined vintage Rock Posters. Though the prints have been modernized, they definitely make us feel like we're back in the era of some of the most influential artists of our lifetime! We urge you to take a look at his work and really, a trip through time!
