On The Streets + In The Sheets: Fashion Meets Home Design

When you think "fashion," your mind might not immediately wander over to furniture, but these two design industries have never been closer together. Trends in popular fashion have been popping up everywhere in furniture and home decor, from Pantone's color of the year crossing both industries to fashion fabric favorites also being all the rage at home. Here's 3 of our favorite fashion + furniture crossovers:

Keeping things simple and sexy is a commandment of both fashion and home design. They key is to focus on one or two accent pieces and building the room or outfit around it with classic pieces that have minimalistic features and neutral colors. Bring the look together with a bright accent piece, or, you could take classic pieces like our Pacific Sectional and Chair with clean lines and a subtle neutral Mountain Grey fabric and pair it with smaller items with unique shapes and designs to give it an extra punch of design, like our Wallace Table lamp and our Bell Oval Coffee Table with a Black Top.

Pantone announced Rose Quartz and Serenity as its colors of the year for 2016. Blushy pink and light sky blue have often been popular colors in both fashion and home design, so this announcement made these colors even more popular! Beautiful, feminine pastels are so easy to style - now you can match your Rose Quartz nails and Serenity dress with your Serenity colored sofa and Rose Quartz walls! Some of our favorite matching colors from the Apt2B store? Check out the Andover Accent Chair in Strawberry, the Sunset Rocking Chair in Blue, Colorhouse Paint .03, Valley Spring Leather Sofa in Baby Blue, Savannah Sideboard in Shades of Blue.

Faux leather and eco-friendly leather blends are making big waves in fashion. These sexy styles work as perfectly for summer evenings as they does for fall. Furniture trends take the sleek, sexy look of leather to the bedroom as well as the living room with faux leather beds and sofas, like our Cooper Hyde Bed and our Hazeltine Platform Bed, both in 5 different colors. The lesson here? Being eco-friendly is ultra-sexy.
